Use and characteristics of electronic loads

Electronic load is a kind of power electronic device based on power electronic technology, computer technology and automatic control technology. It can simulate various load characteristics, and has the advantages of flexible use and energy saving. Used to test the power supply, the power supply reliability test (aging battery discharge test), output characteristics test, to test its technical indicators and performance. The electronic load is divided into DC electronic load and AC electronic load. According to whether the energy is fed back to the grid, the electronic load is divided into energy regenerative electronic load and energy dissipation electronic load.

The electronic load makes the output two ports of the tested power supply show the simulated load characteristics. For example, to simulate a 50 Ohms resistor, the tested power supply is a DC constant voltage source, 50V, then the role of the DC electronic load is to adjust the dc power supply current =50V/50Ω =1A, so that the output characteristics of the power supply meet Ohm's law. This means that the output voltage of the tested power supply is 50V and the current is 1A, so the electronic load is equivalent to a 50Ω resistor.
The dc power supply is a power supply, and the electronic load is used to test the power supply (equivalent to a real load), the DC electronic load can be used to test the DC power supply, the two should not be confused.
